Mutual touch is the most ancient form of human communication and as versatile as human beeings themselves. Massage has it´s origins in a very old way of healing: the art of touch. If we are in pain, we automatically put our hand on the aching spot. Physical contact offers warmth, security and consolation. As there´s a rich variety of cultures, massage is just as diverse. A clear evidence concerning the origins of massage cannot be defined: early references can be found in cave paintings for example. For Hippokrates, the founder of western medicine, massage and physical exercise were part of the foundation of his medicine. Throughout the centuries massage undewent varying degrees of distribution. The most common massage in this country was invented by Pir Henrik Ling (1776-1839). He combined massage with physical exercises, by using his knowledge about physiology, and thereby created a new system, later known as Swedish Massage.
A Holistic Concept
At the beginning of the 20th century the holistic approach emerged in Europe, encouraged by scientific research in the field of the psyche and eastern philosophy. The pioneering role of courageous physicians such as Freud, Jung and Reich, that established a connection between psyche, sexuality and the and physical condition, was significan for that development.
Later humanistic psychology established as the third concept next to psychoanalysis and behaviour therapy, focusing on the experience of the present moment. Western massage techniques that are based upon the Swedish Massage tend to normalise pathological mutations of skin, connective tissue, muscels, tendons and joints. Vigorous stroking, kneading and rubbing smoothens the skin and increases perfusion. The stimulated metabolism acts as a refreshing cure for skin and muscels. Eastern massage techniques involve the imagination of a cosmic energy circulating in the body - energy that's blocked by tensed muscels. Thus the massage aims for reestablishing the energy flow.
We share this perspektive in terms of the bond between body, spirit and soul and use it as a basis for our work. We combine traditional skills with a modern understanding of health: We focus on your whole person instead of a body part or a certain muscle tension. You will also sense this holistic and attentive approach if you take part in one of our events or seminars.
Massage Effects
Relaxation, the primary purpose of massage, harmonises all the different levels of the human beeing. You realise that you are tensed when you feel under pressure, your thinking goes around in circles and your muscles start aching. There are two major methods to bring about tension relief: mentally from inside or externally by muscle loosening - our concept works both ways. Deep breathing has a balancing effect upon the mind and helps to relax from everyday life, similar to the alpha state during autogenic training. Massage helps against fatigue, lowers the level of stress hormones and can even release oxytocyn, the same hormone thats circulate in the body during orgasm. Besides that the enforced blood circulation to the muscles activates the metabolic system as well as the lymphatic system and thereby eliminates waste products and toxins. Blood pressure normalises and the acid level in the blood sinks. Finally the self healing powers get activated - the body needs rest to regenerate and selfregulate itself to stay healthy.
Our Sensual Massages
We use "Sensual Massages" as generic term for types of massages that cause pleasant sensations and have a relaxing and harmonizing effect. They contain the use of miscellaneous elements and materials to intensify cosy feelings. When we talk about Sensual Massages we mostly consider that they include erotic and passionate feelings. Due to different founders and schools, Tantric and Tao Massage (two types of Sensual Massage) managed to spread throughout the whole world during the past decades. A holistic concept ensures that the recipient is perceived and touched on the physical, mental and spiritual level. Therefore you can influenc the orientation of the massage in the preliminray talk.
